Archstone Lifestyle Homes
homes for life
Our Leisure Years homes are designed for the active retired and are available exclusively for the over 55's to aid future retirement living.
The over 55's market is growing rapidly with people wanting to buy a property that enables them to enjoy an active lifestyle, whilst avoiding the stress of maintenance and the worry of leaving a property if they go away for extended periods. Our unique homes provide residents with peace of mind and the enjoyment of living with like-minded neighbours with similar lifestyle considerations.
The design features for retirement living are included in a subtle way if in the unlikely event that they will need to be adapted at a future stage. When buyers are looking for a home to buy now the possible future needs of their lives are not always in the forefront of their thinking and would not necessarily be the first thing they think about when choosing a home to live in. When walking into one of our Leisure Years homes it is not obvious that the design features to aid future living are there, for example:
- there is space for turning a wheelchair in dining areas and living rooms and adequate circulation for wheelchair users elsewhere
- the living rooms are at entrance level
- in houses of two or more storeys there is space on the entrance level that could be used as a convenient bed space
All these and may other design considerations and features are in place so that residents can adapt their home to tailor it to their needs as, when and if the need arises.
We endeavour to comply with the Joseph Rowntree Trust's recommendations wherever possible and support the concept of Lifetime Homes. For more information visit: www.jrf.org.uk/housingandcare/lifetimehomes/
We design and build lifetime features discreetly to avoid people feeling that they are being categorised. In most cases the need to adapt their homes will not arise but it is comforting for residents to know that their home can be easily adapted should it be required Ð giving them peace of mind that they will not have to move out of their home because of sensory or mobility problems.
